Iceland had 9.93 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.18 suicides per 100,000 people.
Of the 37 recorded suicide cases in 2021, 25 were men suicides and 12 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 13.08 per 100,000 men and for women 6.61 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Iceland suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 2 homicides in Iceland, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 18.5 suicides.
